Message from Anne....
On November 15th the intermediate grades had a program entitled "Making a Difference". One of our speakers was Matt Lamb who talked about his "Umbrellas for Peace" project. He has put several pictures from our program on his website. Please click on here to see our pictures as well as learn about the international program "Umbrellas for Peace."
On Sunday, November 15th we had our annual intermediate department family program, "Making a Difference". We had representatives from six different organizations explaining to our families how they and their organization have made a difference in the world. Read more.
PRAYER EXPERIENCE:
Every Sunday morning the children in the intermediate department end their morning with some sort of prayer experience. Some weeks it is a service led by Rabbi Cosnowsky and Sue Leftwich. Some weeks tefillot is led by a certain class. Once a month there is a theme to the service. The theme for October was aliens. Rabbi Cosnowsky came dressed as an alien and all of the students received a little alien when they left.
In prior years, we had people come out of a time machine to teach the students about Jewish history. Last year, we taught the students about different acts of Maaseem Tovim, or good deeds, that they could do each day to heal the world. This year, the students will learn about prayer and the different ways each of us tries to access God and connect with each other through prayer and through community. Each of these themes have been accompanied by a song to help teach the lesson.

Parents, please know that students should not be bringing electronics to school. If a student must have a phone, it needs to be off during school hours. Do not try to call your child during class. Make sure your child understands that he/she can not use any electronic object during school unless permission is granted by the teacher.
